The 2006 version of the Manual On Generalized Age Determination Procedures For Groundfish is available in PDF and MS Word
The manual was prepared by CARE technicians under the sponsorship of Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission for the Technical Subcommittee of The Canada/U.S. Groundfish Committee. Topics include international birthdate, age validation, otolith storage, clearing of otoliths, inter-agency age calibrations, edge type, and specific procedures for rockfish and sablefish.
A new age reading manual is currently in the works! The manual working group encourages and appreciates submissions by any CARE member on the procedures for any species not currently described.
